DeSoto County’s Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Landers Center.
Environmental Services is offering a safe way for residents to dispose items classified as hazardous household waste. The collection event is a community service funded by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality in cooperation with the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors.
Hazardous Household Waste is any unused or left-over portions of products containing toxic chemicals. Any product which is labeled CAUTION, POISONOUS, TOXIC, FLAMMABLE, or CORROSIVE should not be disposed of with regular household waste.

Acids
Aerosol Cans
Chlorine Bleach
Flammable Liquids
Motor Oil
Antifreeze
Car Batteries
Lighter Fluid
All Paints
Pesticides/Fungicides/Herbicides
Poisons
Pool Chemicals
Tire Recycling: Limit of 5 tires per citizen.

Compressed Cylinders
Explosive Materials
Radioactive Materials
Medical Waste
Waste from Business
Commercial Waste
