Chickasaw Bluff Lakes Maintenance Association will be hosting a Fall Fishing Tournament and Fish Fry for members and their guests on October 21, 2023. All the usual lake rules will apply – members and/or their guests must have a current fishing card, lot numbers must be visible on boats, and large motors are not permitted to be used. Tournament and Big Bass entry fees will payout 100% in prize money.
As many of you have seen on recent community letters, the MDWFP assessed our lakes and found them to be overcrowded with smaller bass. They also noted having crappie in lakes of our size is not beneficial to the bass or beam population. MDWFP recommended we start harvesting the bass under 15″ and any crappie caught in the lake. We hosted our first fishing tournament last fall and another this Spring, removing about 100 bass and crappie from Lake Greenwood Leflore. We hope to have a bigger turnout for this tournament and we are opening this tournament up to both Lake Greenwood Leflore and Chief Chisca Lake
We certainly don’t want all the harvested fish to go to waste and what a great excuse to get together for some good food and community. We will be cleaning and frying up all the fish caught during the tournament and having a fish fry at the clubhouse. This will be potluck style, so bring your favorite sides, desserts and drinks to share. The fish fry is a free event for all CBL lot owners, their families and any guest tournament participants as well. We will have a donation jar available, and any funds raised will go in the Community Relations fund for future events.
